Pet Insurance Looks One Of The Better Forms Of Insurance

I'm a firm believer that many insurance policies are at worst a complete rip-off or just plain over priced at best. Payment Protection (PPI) and Mobile Phone insurance are two that instantly come to mind.

And not owning a pet I would have thought that pet medical insurance would be just another overpriced and unnecessary service.

However, I was recently in a pub and the landlord had a big Dalmatian behind the bar but one of its back legs was in thick plaster. I got chatting and it appeared the dog had broken its leg when trying to chase a rabbit through a fence. The break also caused some serious ligament damage.

'Thank god for pet insurance' he remarked and then told me the Vet's bill was around £1,500. When I gasped he said that expensive bills from Vets are common. In fact, £1,500 was not that spectacular. At this point someone else who was at the bar piped up singing the merits of medical insurance for pets.

Summary

Maybe most readers who have dogs and cats know about pet insurance and its advantages towards potentially high veterinary bills.

But for those that don't or are thinking of getting a dog or cat I'd advise that you look into this form of insurance as it looks like one of those policies that offers good value.
