| No I think it would be highly unlikely because although customer profits are tax-free the business as a whole is a major taxpayer.
Think of all the corporation tax paid, the tax on the workers salaries and then their net wages filtering through the economy.

| That probably amounts to tens of millions of pounds worth of tax receipts every year. The Spread Betting industry I would think is a good client of the taxman. |

There are good spread bet brokers and there are bad ones.
Having a good broker won't guarantee you profits but a bad broker will probably lead to losses as a combination of their gamesmanship and suspect software takes its financial toll.
