Why the tax-free element of

Spread Betting is here to stay

No I think it would be highly unlikely because although customer profits are tax-free the business as a whole is a major taxpayer.

Think of all the corporation tax paid, the tax on the workers salaries and then their net wages filtering through the economy.

That probably amounts to tens of millions of pounds worth of tax receipts every year. The Spread Betting industry I would think is a good client of the taxman.
